The Winter Solstice

 Friday, December 21, 2018

The first day of winter - The Winter Solstice. The Winter Solstice is time of year when one of the earth's poles is tilted farthest away from the sun. It's the beginning of winter and the shortest day of the year. As the seasons change, so do the temperatures and the... interestingly, in the northern hemisphere, when we are tilted the farthest from the sun, the entire planet is getting closer to the sun (It will get closest to the sun on January 3, 2019). We are close to the sun, yet tilted away from it.

There are times in your life where you can be tilted away from your dreams, yet closer than you realize. When life's distractions, detractions and destructions get in your way, how do you manage to find your way back? There are simple things you can do every day to make sure you stay on track: meditation, lists, pictures on your door, notifications on your phone or, simply, just close your eyes once a day and face the sun and realize that even though it's so far away, you're closer than you think. Happy winter – enjoy the long nights!
