SIP of GIN -- January 2, 2017
Monday, January 2, 2017
Dear GIN Family,
First of all, let’s give some recognition to Don and Melinda Boyer for heading up the Sip of GIN project. They did an excellent job day in and day out as
GIN Faculty. Don and Melinda are an amazing couple and we send them our gratitude and recognition. It has been a pleasure to work alongside such caring and driven leaders, and we look forward to so many more projects and opportunities in the future. Again, thank you Don and Melinda!
As we step into the New Year, many of us have resolutions for ourselves. Individually we strive towards a “definite chief aim” and have other goals we want to accomplish. Maybe it’s to lose weight or get more organized or have better relationships. The key to succeeding in our resolution is within us. We have a support system in GIN; a group of people – a family – who want us to succeed. We can also take wisdom from our training. The Law of Success in Sixteen Lessons by Napoleon Hill – Lesson Eight on Self-Control says, “To be a person who is well ‘balanced,’ you must be a person in whom enthusiasm and self-control are equalized.” Have enthusiasm for your goals and dreams and use self-control to direct the enthusiasm to positive and constructive ends.
There is a legend about Italian Renaissance artist Michelangelo who was at the beginning of sculpting his sculpture of David. When asked about how he would accomplish the final masterpiece, Michelangelo said, “You just chip away everything that doesn’t look like David.” While that is an unlikely tale, the impact is understood and appreciated. The lesson of Michelangelo is one we can apply to our own personal dreams. What are your goals and what are you doing each day to achieve them? We all have a different path, yet we can all support the progressive realization of a worthwhile dream. Everything you do is either working towards or away from your dream. Are you chipping away everything that doesn’t look like your chief aim? How badly do you want it? What are the steps you need to take on a daily basis to achieve that goal?
Start this year off right. I believe in you.
