Breathe In. Breathe Out.

Thursday, November 15, 2018

Breathe in. The boxer stood in his corner, ready to fight. He had worked and trained for this moment all his life. Poised, ready and willing to take on what would come to him. Breathe Out. From sweat and dirt through pain and recovery – even moments of grace and elegance – he attacked his goal. In the boxing ring, someone is directly opposing his dream, physically trying to stop him. Breathe in. The strategy, once clear and evident, is now rapidly changing. A new goal is set, changed, reestablished, rearranged, reordered and put in place again. Breathe out. At this point, it's easy to get distracted or give in. All of the hard work could be undone in a matter of minutes. The boxer doesn't concern himself with the lights or the crowd. He doesn't care about the commentary from the announcers or the social media stream. What the boxer wants is directly in front of him and, if he fails, he will begin again, more determined than ever.

Your dreams are right in front of you. The plan will change and the road will wind. You will be attacked. You will get tired. You will get punched. You will want to give up. And then, when you reach your goal, you'll be so glad for the work you put in. Breathe in. Breathe out.

"Everyone has a plan 'till they get punched in the mouth." – Mike Tyson

"Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up." Galatians 6:9
